Tutor Group 2 Summer Term 2019

April 2019

Dear parents and carers,

Please find below an outline of the subjects/topics that your child will be learning about in the Summer term.

This terms topic is called ‘Insects and Flowers.’ Students will be working with the books; ‘The hungry hungry caterpillar,’ Aaaargh Spider, Superworm, mad about mini-beasts and Twist and hop, mini-beast bop, to learn about different insects. We will be learning about what different insects there are and what there jobs are in nature.

Students will be taking part in the sensory story, focusing on identifying the insects in the book and responding to questions about the book. We will also be learning about how to create letter shapes, and using these to make simple CVC words.

Within maths this term we will be looking at counting and applying these skills to real life situations. Students will use these skills in games and within art and cooking. We will also be looking at symmetry within insects.

PSHE is fully embedded within the class day to day activities and underpins all lessons. Students will be learning about interacting with others and sharing.

In science we will be looking at ‘Life and Living Processes’, focussing on what helps a plant grow. The students will also have the opportunity to try and grow some seeds of their own. We will also be learning about ‘Mini beasts,’ and categorising mini-beasts by their physical attributes such as how many legs they have.

If you have any questions regarding this information, please do not hesitate to ask.

Yours sincerely,

Eleni Christou.
