Dear Parents and Carers,
Happy New Year to you all! We hope you had a great Break. We are looking forward to an amazing Spring term.
We will continue to focus on instilling the school values through the curriculum while ensuring our students are joyful, nurtured, feel safe and are able to engage with their learning.
English - This term we will continue to work on our phonics, focusing on communication. We will also continue our work on ‘Shape Coding’, which will help our students speak and write in composed and well-ordered sentences. We will be reading a wide range of books, some chosen by the students, others from the Phonics collection. We will be practising writing sentences using symbols and core vocabulary as well as studying Poetry.
Maths - We will be looking at Time, exploring both the analogue and digital clock. We will revisit Number and Place value, Addition and Subtraction. The students will also be learning about Capacity and Mass – applying skills to real life situations within our regular cooking sessions.
PSHE - We will be focusing on Self Care and Independence, addressing: Changing and Growing also Managing Feelings. The focus will be on, identification of feelings and different emotions. We will continue to reinforce keeping safe and the importance of expressing concerns to the correct people privately and in public.
Science – The focus for this term will be: Living things and their Habitats. We will be learning about Living things in their local environment, How environments can change and Dangers to living things.
Physical development and wellbeing - We will continue working on Mindfulness, focusing on mental and physical wellbeing through our weekly Yoga sessions. Dance will continue on Tuesday mornings as well as weekly Swimming sessions.
Music and Art will be taught once a week. Art and design will also be incorporated into the core curriculum subjects.
