Tutor Group 2 Spring Term 2023
Dear Parents and Carers,
Happy New Year!
I hope that all our pupils and families in TG2 had an enjoyable Christmas break and are pleased to be back in school. Below is an outline of what your child will be experiencing and learning about during the Spring Term.
Communication/English
Pupils will continue to learn Makaton signs and to use PODD books/symbol boards. TG2 will continue to work with the Speech and Language therapist to participate in activities to develop their speaking, listening and communication skills. They will be engaging in a phonics programme and reading a range of texts including poetry.
Maths
The pupils will be continuing with number recognition, place value and addition/subtraction. There will be weekly cooking sessions as part of the maths/science curriculum. They will also be exploring the use of numbers in their daily experiences as well as Time and Capacity.
Science
In Science the pupils will be learning about living creatures and their habitats and Light.
PSHE
Pupils will continue to learn about routines and turn taking and they will be supported to be as independent as possible. They will be exploring how to identify and manage strong feelings.
Creative development: Music, Art and PE
During music sessions pupils will be working on their listening skills, start/stop abilities and responding to music through movement. They will also have music sessions with the Vale band
Pupils will be having a weekly dance session as part of the pupils PE/Creative development. In PE sessions pupils will be developing skills and participating in a range of physical activities.
In Art sessions the pupils will be continuing to develop their skills exploring different techniques to produce creative work. They will be studying prehistoric art.
ICT
Pupils will engage with the Interactive Whiteboard to support maths skills and concepts as well as music, phonics, reading and other activities. They will also be exploring the basic features of an iPad and internet safety.
Humanities
In RE pupils will be learning about the Lunar Festivals and Easter as well as friendships, what is a friendship and how they can be a good friend to others.
In Geography pupils will be learning about features of the local area.
