Paddington Class Summer 2022

April 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to the new term! Here is some information detailing our curriculum for the coming Summer term:

The topic for this term is ‘Ocean Treasures’, in which we will be exploring different types of materials. Our sensory curriculum (particularly in our science based sessions) will provide us with lots of opportunities to investigate this theme through play and exploration.

In our literacy lessons we will be reading stories, using rhymes, playing games and singing songs linked to this topic. This term our focus stories are ‘The Pirates Next Door’’ by Jonny Duddle and ‘The Rainbow Fish’ by Marcus Pfister.

The children are settling in nicely after the Easter holiday break, and normal routines are being re-established so that the children can feel comfortable, relaxed and confident to be able to focus on their new learning experiences, school routines, their favourite activities and to strengthen their friendships and bonds with peers and adults.

We aim to ensure that the physical wellbeing of each child is appropriately monitored and managed, and of course we will have fun – by returning to activities which we know the children have enjoyed.

We always aim to make our curriculum as creative and as interactive as possible and explore using a variety of sensory and immersive activities, which are designed to stimulate the children’s awareness and to encourage their interactive participation in their learning, especially through free choice activities, such as, music, art and ICT based sessions.

We plan to make trips to the local park and the local pond where there will be lots of opportunities to encourage the children to express themselves and to interact with the natural environment.

We aim to involve you all as much as possible, so please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any queries.
