Brown Bear Class Summer 2022

April 2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back to the new term. This term’s topic is ‘Ocean Treasures.’ We will be exploring different materials, objects and creatures that can be found in the ocean. We will do a range of art, science and sensory activities linked to this theme.

In maths we are continuing exploring capacity with a range of materials, for example, sand, water and pasta. We will also continue exploring size and g number through songs and play. In phonics we will continue to listen to and identify different environmental sounds that we can hear both inside and outside and we will also be investigating different objects that begin s, a & t.

In science this term we will be learning about materials. We will be developing a sensory story for ‘the Three Little Pigs’, exploring the different materials the pigs used to build their houses, as well as other materials we can find around school.

We will also be making the most of our outside area this term with the approaching good weather, taking part in planting and water activities as well as moving our PE and other lessons outside as much as possible. On hot days, do please apply sunscreen and send your child in with a sun hat.

Please email us to let us know how your child is doing during the weekends or any news you would like to share with us – we would love to hear about what the children are enjoying outside of school.

Best wishes,

Melanie (Teacher) and Brown Bear team
