Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome back for the Summer term.
Humanities
This half term in Geography we are studying Diverse Places, where we will be exploring climates across the globe from deserts to the arctic tundra..
History will be taught in the second part of the Summer term and the topic will be ‘Medieval Britain - The Normans and the Hundred Year War.
English
In English we are going to be revisiting poetry. We will focus on rhyming words and poems. We will be returning to Highate Woods to see what difference the change in seasons has made to what we can see, hear and feel.
We will practise our reading and spelling skills and will continue to improve our phonetic skills by moving on to Set 3 Sounds.
Maths
Within maths this half term we will be returning to Time, and Money and learning about 3D shapes, and developing our Addition and Subtraction skills.
Next half term we will work on; Fractions, Addition and subtraction, Multiplication and Division.
PSHE
Our focus will be on Different Types of Relationships, looking at how families are made up of different people. We will think about who cares for us and the features of healthy relationship behaviours. Next half term we will look at Growing and Changing.
Science
Earth and Space is the focus for this half term where we will identify the main features of Planet Earth (land and water). We will study how the Earth rotates around the Sun. We will do some practical tasks to help understand about day and night. We will also begin to understand the phases of the moon. Plants will be studied next half term.
R.E.
Our focus this term is asking Why are Some Stories Special? We will think about stories from the major world religions and think about why it is special to us. We will also think about how the messages in what we read help us to become better individuals.
Computing
The theme is Data Handling: International Space Station. We will learn how computers are used in, and around Earth and learn how to give computer instructions.
Independence
TG6 will be focusing on their Knowing Your Local Area and Getting About Safely. This will involve looking at how to travel safely around locally to their homes and exploring the local services available.
